The National Testing Agency (NTA) has officially announced the commencement of the registration process for the CSIR UGC NET December 2024 examination. Aspiring candidates seeking to qualify for Junior Research Fellowships (JRF), Assistant Professorships, or PhD admissions in various scientific disciplines can now apply online.

Eligibility Criteria:

To be eligible for the CSIR UGC NET examination, candidates must meet the following criteria:

For JRF:

  • Master’s Degree: Candidates must possess a Master’s degree in Science or equivalent degree with at least 55% marks (50% for SC/ST/PWD candidates).
  • Age Limit: The upper age limit for JRF is 28 years as on 1st January 2025. Relaxation in the upper age limit is provided for SC/ST/OBC-NCL/PWD candidates as per government norms.

For Lectureship/Assistant Professorship:

  • Master’s Degree: Candidates must possess a Master’s degree in Science or equivalent degree with at least 55% marks (50% for SC/ST/PWD candidates).
  • No Age Limit: There is no upper age limit for Lectureship/Assistant Professorship.

Exam Pattern:

The CSIR UGC NET examination is conducted in a Computer-Based Test (CBT) format. The exam consists of three papers:

  • Paper 1: General Aptitude (30 questions, 60 marks)
  • Paper 2: Subject-Specific (60 questions, 120 marks)
  • Paper 3: Subject-Specific (75 questions, 150 marks) – Only for JRF
