The 2024 ACC Under-19 Asia Cup is currently underway in the United Arab Emirates, showcasing some of the most promising young cricketing talent from across the continent. The tournament kicked off on December 3rd and will conclude on December 8th, with the final taking place at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

Group Stage Highlights

The group stage matches have already produced some thrilling encounters and standout performances. India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Nepal, and the United Arab Emirates are the participating teams, divided into two groups.

  • Group B: Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, and Nepal

In Group A, India and Pakistan have emerged as the top two teams, securing their places in the semi-finals. India’s campaign was highlighted by a dominant 10-wicket victory over the UAE in their final group match. The match was particularly notable for the performance of 13-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who smashed an unbeaten 76 off 46 balls, making him the youngest player to score a half-century in the history of the tournament.

Pakistan, on the other hand, topped their group with convincing wins over the UAE and India. Their bowling attack, led by Mohammad Huzaifa, has been impressive, consistently picking up wickets and restricting the opposition.

In Group B, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh have qualified for the semi-finals. Sri Lanka secured their spot with a thrilling 7-run victory over Bangladesh in their final group match. Vimath Dinsara’s all-round performance, including a match-winning knock of 72, was instrumental in their success.

Nepal caused a major upset by defeating Afghanistan in their group match, showcasing their growing strength in the regional cricketing scene.

Semi-Finals

The semi-finals are scheduled for December 6th:

  • Semi-Final 1: Pakistan vs Bangladesh (Dubai International Cricket Stadium)
  • Semi-Final 2: India vs Sri Lanka (Sharjah Cricket Stadium)
