India's first bamboo village

Tripura: The first bamboo park has been set up in India to boost the industries in the Northeast region. After this, it’s kind of a multi-purpose ‘bashgram’ (bamboo village) has established in Tripura to boost the eco-tourism in the region. The statistics and facts said that this initiative will attract all kinds of nature-lovers, yoga enthusiasts and tourists. It will help to increase the tourism business in Tripura all over the northern part.

As per the reports, the bamboo village has been made up at Katlamara in Western Tripura. It is just along the India-Bangladesh border. Bamboo architect-cum-expert Manna Roy has been developed around 9 acres of land for setting up the village. It is known that the village has already managed to create attraction between the tourists including foreigners and environmentalists, from across the country.

The bamboo village is made up of a playground, several ponds with sufficient flora and fauna, a yoga centre, bamboo cottages, bamboo bridges and pathways. Besides, the tourists also get various eco-friendly utilities and facilities in this man-made village.

Different types of natural plants, vegetation, flowers, herbal, shrubs and as well as more than 14 species of bamboo make the new tourist spot in India truly a natural abode. Referring to this Manna Roy said that a museum would also soon be set up in ‘bashgram’. All types of endangered, obsolete, old and new materials made of bamboo would be shown in the museum.

He also added the idea of making the bamboo village properly and effectively using local and rural resources. They would not hamper nature creating this. Mr. Roy said that they have so far invested INR 60 lakh to develop the village. They didn’t take a single rupee from the government or bank. It is completely their establishment for their tourism development.

Using the locally available resources the main objective is to turn the bamboo village or ‘bashgram’ into a world-class medical-cum-eco tourism hub. They want to develop the village as an example of sustainable development worldwide.

The person who needs to change the weather for developing the health condition can easily come to this zero polluted place and spend the days in an affordable expenditure.
