Maradona’s stolen Hublot Watch is found in Assam

Assam: On Saturday Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said on Twitter that with the coordination of Dubai Police, the Assam Police has recovered a stolen watch of late football player Diego Maradona. Chief Minister said that Wazid Hussein, the accused has been arrested in Assam and the government will be taken the proper legal action.

Himanta Biswa Sarma added that through the Indian federal law enforcement agencies the Assam Police coordinated with Dubai Police for recovering the ancestral Hublot watch that belonged to the late Argentinian football player Diego Maradona.

“In an act of international cooperation, Assam Police has coordinated with Dubai Police through Indian federal LEA to recover a heritage Hublot watch belonging to legendary footballer late Diego Maradona and arrested one Wazid Hussein. Follow-up lawful action is being taken,” Himanta Biswa Sarma wrote on Twitter. He also attached the pictures of the stolen watch and the accused.

The Director-General of Assam Police Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta also tweeted on his official account that through a central agency after getting input from Dubai Police, the Assam Police has arrested the culprit from his residence Sivasagar at 4 am on Saturday.

In Dubai, a company was storing late football player’s all belongings, and the accused was working as a security guard in that company. At that time he had stolen this limited edition of the Hublot watch which is signed by Maradona. After stealing the heritage he leave the company and was told that the condition of his father was not well. In this year August month, he flew away to Assam and was leaving in Sivasagar.

Rakesh Raushan, the District Superintendent of Sivasagar Police said on the press, “Based on secret information, we had launched an operation last night and apprehended the person from the house of his in-laws. We have also recovered a heritage Hublot watch from his possession. Our investigation is on.”

25th November of 2020 Maradona was passed away due to cardiac arrest. After his death, a lot of controversies came into the news. Seven medical personnel were charged for negligence in his treatment. The case is still under investigation.
