Nvidia has officially announced the latest additions to its GeForce RTX 50-series lineup: the RTX 5060 and the RTX 5060 Ti graphics cards. These new GPUs, based on the cutting-edge Blackwell architecture and built on the TSMC 4N process, aim to deliver significant performance and feature upgrades to mainstream gamers and creators. The announcement marks the arrival of the entry-level offerings in the highly anticipated RTX 50-series.

The more powerful of the two, the RTX 5060 Ti, will be available in two memory configurations: 16GB and 8GB of GDDR7 memory clocked at 28 Gbps, connected via a 128-bit bus. This offers a substantial memory bandwidth of 448 GB/s. The RTX 5060 Ti features the GB206 die with 4608 CUDA cores and boasts a boost clock of 2.57 GHz and a base clock of 2.41 GHz. Both memory variants of the RTX 5060 Ti have a 180W power limit.

The RTX 5060 also utilizes the GB206 die but with a reduced CUDA core count of 3840. It comes equipped with 8GB of GDDR7 memory, also running at 28 Gbps on a 128-bit bus. The RTX 5060 has a slightly lower boost clock of 2.5 GHz and a base clock of 2.28 GHz, with a power consumption of 145W.

Both the RTX 5060 and RTX 5060 Ti incorporate Nvidia’s latest technologies, including 5th generation Tensor Cores and 4th generation RT Cores, promising enhanced AI capabilities and ray-tracing performance. A key highlight is the support for DLSS 4, the newest iteration of Nvidia’s Deep Learning Super Sampling technology, which includes 4x frame generation. They will also support the upcoming Reflex 2 feature, aimed at further reducing latency in supported games. Connectivity-wise, both cards utilize a PCIe 5.0 interface, although they may be limited to 8x lanes. Furthermore, they feature the latest NVENC encoder and NVDEC decoder, now with support for 4:2:2 video encoding and decoding.

Nvidia has indicated that the RTX 5060 Ti and RTX 5060 offer a performance uplift of 20-25% compared to their RTX 40-series predecessors in the games tested, even before leveraging DLSS 4 and frame generation.

In terms of pricing and availability, the RTX 5060 Ti with 16GB of memory will start at $429, while the 8GB version will be priced at $379. The RTX 5060 is set to launch in May with a starting price of $299. These are listed as pre-tariff prices in the US and are subject to change based on region and manufacturer. Notably, there will be no Founders Edition models directly from Nvidia, but the cards will be available from all major add-in board partners such as ASUS, Colorful, Gainward, GALAX, GIGABYTE, INNO3D, KFA2, MSI, Palit, PNY, and ZOTAC, as well as in pre-built desktops from system integrators.

Alongside the desktop cards, Nvidia also announced RTX 5060 laptop GPUs, which are expected to be available from major laptop manufacturers starting in May, with prices beginning at $1099 for the laptops. These mobile GPUs will also benefit from the Blackwell architecture and DLSS 4, aiming to bring enhanced gaming and creative capabilities to the laptop space.

The launch of the RTX 5060 Ti is slated for April 16th, with reviews expected to surface on the same day. The RTX 5060 will follow in May. This announcement signifies Nvidia’s commitment to bringing its latest architectural advancements to a wider audience, promising a compelling upgrade path for gamers looking for improved performance and access to cutting-edge features like DLSS 4 and enhanced ray tracing without breaking the bank.
