The entertainment industry and the city of Meerut are in mourning following the untimely demise of actor Lalit Manchanda, who was found dead at his residence in Prahlad Nagar on Monday night. Preliminary police investigations suggest that the 36-year-old actor died by suicide.
Lalit Manchanda, best known for his appearances in popular television shows such as “Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah,” “CID,” “Crime Patrol,” and “Savdhaan India,” had reportedly returned to Meerut from Mumbai approximately six months ago. According to local authorities, his body was discovered hanging in his home.
The Lisari Gate police station’s Station House Officer (SHO), Ashok Kumar, confirmed the incident, stating that upon receiving the information, a police team was immediately dispatched to the actor’s residence. The body has been sent for a post-mortem examination. While no suicide note was found at the scene, initial inquiries point towards depression and potential financial difficulties as possible contributing factors to this tragic step.
The SHO further added that the actor’s family members informed the police that he had been suffering from depression due to financial problems. As of now, no formal complaint has been filed in the matter.
