Cyclone Fengal, which made landfall between Puducherry and Tamil Nadu on November 30, has weakened into a deep depression. However, its impact continues to be felt across the region, with heavy rains and strong winds causing widespread disruption.

Schools Closed in Puducherry and Tamil Nadu

IMD Issues Rain Alert for Karnataka and Kerala

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a rain alert for parts of Karnataka and Kerala, warning of heavy rainfall in the coming days. Coastal Karnataka districts such as Dakshina Kannada and Udupi are expected to receive heavy rainfall, with isolated extremely heavy falls likely. Kerala is also likely to experience heavy rainfall, especially in the central and southern districts.

Damage and Disruptions

Cyclone Fengal has caused significant damage to infrastructure and property in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. Strong winds have uprooted trees, damaged houses, and disrupted power supply. Heavy rains have led to flooding in several areas, affecting transportation and communication.
