Republic TV editor Arnab Goswami’s problems with the alleged abduction of an interior designer to suicide have increased. Arnab has been sent to judicial custody by a court from Alibaug to November 18. The court gave this order in a late-night hearing.
On the other hand, Arnab also applied for bail, on which the court has asked the investigating officer to file a reply. Arnab’s lawyer Gaurav Parkar said that in a court in Alibag, the police had requested 14 days custody of Goswami. Along with Arnab, the co-accused Firoz sheik and Nitesh Sharda of this case have also been sent to judicial custody by the court for 14 days.
A team of Raigarh police detained Arnab from his house in Mumbai on Wednesday morning. After sitting in the police van, Arnab claimed that the police had also grappled with him. ‘Police has arrested Arnab Goswami under section 306 (inciting to suicide) and 34 of the IPC.’ Arnab’s lawyer also accused the police of a scuffle.
Arnab accused of abetting an interior designer and his mother to suicide
Parker said that the magistrate had taken cognizance of the allegations of assault and asked the police to take Goswami to the civil hospital for medical examination. After medical, Goswami was brought back to the court for his custody hearing. Police said interior designer Anvay Naik and his mother committed suicide in 2018 over Republic TV’s alleged non-payment of dues. In May this year, Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh said that he has ordered a re-investigation into the case following a complaint by Anvay’s daughter, Anvay Naik.
