Munawar Faruqui has announced his new comedy show in Kolkata

Kolkata : Munawar Faruqui, the stand-up comedian who was denied not to hold a show in Bengaluru has announced his new show in Kolkata. The program will be held on 16th January 2022.

On Saturday evening the comedian shared a post on Twitter and wrote, “Kolkata, I’m coming with (a) new show! Ticket link in bio.” With the post, he shared a link for ticket booking. It is a two hours comedy act ‘Dhandho’. But the venue isn’t declared yet.

The tickets are selling on the well-known online ticket booking platform BookMyShow. The price of each ticket is 799 Rs. According to the platform, they were “filling fast.”

As per Faruqui’s Sunday tweet, all the tickets have been sold out already. He also told that they will be adding more tickets for the live show.

In November after the Bengaluru Police denied giving him approval to organize his stand-up comedy show in the city Faruqui was under fire. He was accused for hurt the  Hindu sentiments in one of his shows. The Hindu right-wing outfits did a protest against the show and him.

29 years old comic actor was said that his show was canceled for threats to venue vandalism. Though 600 tickets were already sold at that time. He also added that the outcome money from the show will be donated to late Kannada star Puneeth Rajkumar’s charitable organization.

Faruqui also claimed that his 12 shows were canceled in the last two months due to getting threats from the right-wing group to the venue and audiences.

It created an uproar in social media as many of his fans and other stand-up comedians voiced their support for Munawar. In response at that time, Faruqui tweeted, “My name is Munawar Faruqui. And that’s been my time, you guys were (a) wonderful audience. Goodbye, I’m done.”

Faruqui had also spent one month in Indore jail earlier this year. In January a BJP MLA’s son lodged an FIR against him. The comedian was accused of hurting religious sentiments through his show.

A few days before stand-up comedian Kunal Kamra, who is the popular vocal critic of the government had also said that his shows scheduled to be organized in Bengaluru are canceled after the organizers got threats
